Rory and Jess’s First Kiss

Depicting a crucial moment in history. (From Gilmore Girls, for the uninitiated.) This movie is formed by projecting a frame-by-frame animation onto a still drawing. I like to think about our attachment to cultural narratives, how we project onto fictional people and how this projection creates a real space for our emotions. An alternate title for this piece was, “Romance is For Me and No One Else.”
